Smash Ultimate · Low Tier

Ganondorf Balance Changes

Give Ganondorf a real way back to the stage and a little protection against being poked to death, without touching what makes him terrifying when he connects.

Balance Philosophy

Buff a handful of moves that currently do little for the character's kit so they have more options in combat, and improve several recoveries so low tiers are not losing stocks as cheaply. Not every suggestion needs to be implemented.

Proposed Changes

Each entry lists the move or ability affected, the adjustment itself, and — where the analysis states one — the problem it is meant to solve and the reasoning behind it.

  1. Side special (aerial)

    Buff
    Proposed adjustment
Flame Choke can be used in the air without sending Ganondorf into free fall, unless the move connects with an opponent. End lag in the air matches the grounded version.
    Reason
Lets him use both his side special and his up special to get back to the stage.
  2. Up tilt

    Adjustment
    Proposed adjustment
Up tilt has a 15 frame start up, with a hitbox as the foot comes down. The wind effect is still present during those 15 frames, and the explosion still happens when the move hits the ground.
  3. Neutral special

    Buff
    Proposed adjustment
Warlock Punch can be cancelled with shield.
    Reason
Gives Ganondorf a way to armor himself against spam attacks.

Where The Source Is Unclear

  • The up tilt entry is written as a statement of new frame data rather than an explicit buff or nerf, and the source does not give the move's current start up for comparison.
