Mercy Balance Changes

A damage boost that decays is meant to stop Mercy players from pocketing a single player and push them to spread the boost across the whole team.

Balance Philosophy

For each hero in D and F tier, slightly buff each part of the kit. Not every suggestion needs to be implemented, but all of them should be taken into consideration.

Proposed Changes

Each entry lists the move or ability affected, the adjustment itself, and — where the analysis states one — the problem it is meant to solve and the reasoning behind it.

  1. Caduceus Staff (damage boost)

    Adjustment
    Proposed adjustment
Damage boost gains a lingering effect. After holding the beam on an ally for 1 second it applies a 25% damage boost for about 2 seconds, then diminishes back to zero over the following 4 seconds. Holding the beam on that ally during the 6 second window does not replenish the boost until it has fully decayed.
    Current issue
Mercy players pocket one damage dealer rather than distributing the boost.
    Reason
Pushes Mercy to move the boost around the team instead of parking it on one player.
  2. Valkyrie

    Adjustment
    Proposed adjustment
The ultimate ignores the diminishing effect and keeps its current damage boost behaviour.

Where The Source Is Unclear

  • Mercy sits in the low-tier section, where the stated philosophy is to slightly buff each part of the kit, but this change reads as a rework or a nerf to pocketing rather than a straightforward buff.
